FISHING AROUND COFFIN BAY

Coffin Bay is renowned for its reliability when it comes to catching quality edible fish.

However it cannot be guaranteed that all the fish you catch will be of legal size but you certainly should be happy with those legal size fish you do land such as King George whiting, garfish, salmon, salmon trout, tommies, flathead, trevally, snook, snapper, kingfish, nannygai, and more.

The following is a guide for fishing locations. Bear in mind that all fishing in any Marine Park Sanctuary Zone is prohibited and there are bag limits at all times, possession limits and no fishing periods for certain species of fish.

For those with large boats, tuna, kingfish and samson fish can be targeted during the months of January through to May, around Greenly Island, Rocky Island and the Hummocks.

  • Salmon Trout, Whiting, Tommy Ruff, Garfish, Flathead, Mullet, Squid

  • Salmon, Mullet, Tommy Ruff, Gummy Shark

  • Salmon Trout, Whiting, Mullet, Tommy Ruff, Garfish, Flathead, Squid

  • Adjacent to parking for the boat ramp, Crinolin Point, Snapper Point, Seal Corner, The Ledge. Salmon Trout, Whiting, Garfish, Tommy Ruff, Flathead, Trivially, Snapper, Nanagi, Stingray, Yellowtail Kingfish, Gummy Shark, Squid, Sand Crabs.

    *For those with large boats, tuna, kingfish, samson fish can be targeted during the months of January through to May, around Greenly Island, Rocky Island and the Hummocks.

  • It is illegal to fish or berley within any sanctuary zone.

  • Effective 4 September 2023, permits will be required to launch a vessel from the Coffin Bay Boat Ramp.

    All berths have access to power, water and use of CBYC amenities.
